Intel JMedia Player

Initiative:  Internet Media
Release level:  RTM

Take your Java* applets and applications to new levels of media richness by incorporating Intel’s JMedia Player into your Java projects. The Intel JMedia Player is a complete Software Development Kit for playing audio and video through the Java programming language, either over a network or from local storage. The Intel JMedia Player supports the leading Java Virtual Machines for Windows* 95 and Windows NT*, and the JMedia Player runtimes are freely licensed for redistribution.

Designed for Performance

The Intel JMedia Player was specifically designed for high-performance playback and is implemented using Microsoft’s DirectShow* SDK for a compelling media experience. Since the JMedia Player takes advantage of highly tuned native methods, developers can also benefit from platform advances such as Intel’s MMX Technology.

Full Featured

The Intel JMedia Player supports a complete set of media file formats, including: AVI, MOV, WAV, AU, and MPEG. Developers can also add support for new media formats by extending the JMedia Player’s well-defined native infrastructure. The Intel JMedia Player SDK includes comprehensive documentation, a tutorial and sample code to get you started fast.
